I've been an artist and Star Wars fan for most of my life, but over the last 10 years I started collecting lightsabers and selling them after customizing them.

My personal view on how lightsabers should look is similar to how George Lucas tended to make props look in his movies.  That is, rough, dirty, and used.  I try to find unique objects to attach to my sabers, things that most people wouldn't recognize for their real use, but look cool on a saber.
